The Health Professions Council is a former government quango cum regulatory body responsible for the healthcare professions in the UK. It protects use of the professional titles 'Chiropodist' and 'Podiatrist' and maintains a publicly accessible list of qualified practitioners. Members of the public are encouraged to verify that their practitioners are registered, to ensure their practitioner is suitably qualified and keeping their skills up to date.
The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists supervises the training and registration of all chiropody / podiatry students in the UK. They also have a useful site for advice to members of the public.

Hotters are a UK manufacturer (Lancashire) of footwear having cushioning soles and insoles with slimmer more stylish fashioning, slightly more expensive and generally mail-order only (free exchanges and returns, excepting P&P).
Websters are a UK manufacturer (Chesterfield) of semi-bespoke footwear at regular prices. You can order different size shoes (nearest half size) for each foot, with options of additional space for bunions of bunionettes to one or both shoes! All are supplied with removable graphite insoles and £10 discount for your first order (quote POD1), with 3 - 10 days delivery time being typical. Highly recommended.

Birkenstock Sandals are recommended by Foot Wise Podiatry because of their manufacture quality (German origin) and their contoured footbeds. The latter support the foot and arch and may reduce clawing of the toes. They are now available on-line in the UK.

These specialist rocker-bottom shoes have unique Masai Barefoot Technology, simulating walking barefoot on a sandy beach or on springy moss.
